A few weeks ago I was friendless on a Saturday night. The weather was bad and if you have nothing to do, there is only one thing you’ll do when you’re home alone: online shopping right?
After surfing the internet for a while, my heart stopped when I saw the stunning Chiara Ferragni ‘wink’ shoes collection. You know when you have one shoe with the eye open and the other shoe with the eye closed. They were so incredible cute, I just needed to have them. But those shoes weren’t cut out for me, those 225 euros were too expensive for me. Well, at that certain moment I had a creative brainwave; I’ll just make them myself.
During my creative mindset, I watched several YouTube videos and I spend hours searching for the right materials. But after all, I finished my piece of art and I’m really happy with the result. That’s why I’m sharing my techniques so you can do it yourself. It will take you some time, but it is super easy and the results are amazing. Plus it will save you a lot of money.

So, let’s get started!
You will need:
- A piece of stiff black, white and light blue felt,
- Scissors,
- Hot glue gun,
- A print device and some really thicker paper,
- And of course you’ll need a pair of flat espadrilles in any color you like.
Step 1: espadrilles to go
Make sure you buy some pretty cute espadrilles in a light color. I chose for light blue (totally into light blue lately), but white espadrilles are also pretty catching and recommendable.
Step 2: print it and cut it
Go ahead a print out a picture of the Chiara Ferragni ‘wink’ shoes. I just googled ‘Chiara Ferragni shoes’ and set its print to a full page. Make sure you’ll use thicker print paper (photo paper for example) to get the best result.

Now you’ll cut out the eyes, eyelashes and eyebrows. So you can use it as a stencil for the felt.
Step 3: the hard part
After all your pieces are cut out, take your eyelashes and brows and trace them on the black fabric and then cut them out. And just take your time with this, it’s pretty much the somewhat hard part of this DIY. So go ahead and take your extra time to make sure all the edges are nice and smooth.
Then do the same thing for your eye on the white material.
For the pupil and iris, cut those out from the eye you just used on the black material and repeat the steps you did before.

Step 4: hot glue
When everything is cut out, place them on your shoes and start moving them around to get an idea where you want them to be. And then if you’re happy with it, just glue it on with the hot glue gun!
